Children enjoy night zoo
July 24, 2014 Ryukyu Shimpo
On July 19, an event called “Zoo Night,” which will be held every Saturday night during the summer vacation, started at the Okinawa Zoo & Museum in the Goya district of Okinawa City. The event will last until 9 p.m.
On the first day of the event, an activity called “Monster Museum” began. Interested children formed a line and waited.
The zoo plans to let visitors feed animals and try horse-riding. The organizer said, “We would like visitors to enjoy the night zoo, which is different from the daytime.”
The zoo plans to hold other summer vacation events such as “Eisa Summer Festival” on August 2 and 3, and “Zoo Camp,” on August 7 and 14, when visitors will get the chance to stay overnight in the zoo.
The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology held a special workshop at the zoo called “Try Creating Snow” on July 26. Art unit Maywa Denki held a workshop to create an original musical instrument on July 28.
